Veteran Suicide
Veteran suicide is an area of grave concern to me. In June 2016, I challenged my colleagues in the Delaware General Assembly to participate in the 22 in 22 Challenge. This challenge was started by Delaware high school student Jacob DiSabatino and seeks to raise awareness about soldier and veteran suicide.
Military Crisis Line provides confidential support 24 hours a day to members of the military and veterans and their families. Call 1-800-273-8255 and Press 1 for veterans or text 838255.
Coaching into Care is a resource for the loved ones of veterans to help them feel empowered to support their family member returning home. Call 888-823-7458.
Crisis Intervention in Northern Delaware, call: 800-652-2929. Crisis Intervention Service (CIS) staff are available 24 hours a day to assist people, 18 years and older, with severe personal, family or marital problems. These problems may include depression, major life changes such as unemployment or loss of an important relationship, anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, thoughts of suicide, delusions, paranoia and substance abuse.
